About

Ext2read is a set of utilities which is used to read/write files and folders of an Ext2/Ext3 Partitions. For now there are two programs, ext2read and ext2explore. Ext2read is a shell like utility from where you can list, change directory and copy ext2/ext3 files. Ext2explore is an explorer like utility to display and read ext2/ext3 files.

When Ext2Read is run, it searches the disk for Ext2/Ext3 partitions and list it. Then it will prompt you to enter the partition name. The partition name must be in format as in Linux (hda1, hdb5 etc). After selection of partition you will be left in a shell, where you can enter commands. A list of supported commands will be discussed later.
